Mental Health, for so long a social taboo, is now at last beginning to enter mainstream conversations but do we really understand the difference between mental health and mental ill health? 🤓

Mental Health as defined by the World Health Organisation is a “state of well-being in which an individual is able to realise their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to their own community” – Bit of a mouthful, but I think you get the idea! 😃

Mental Ill Health by contrast is a general term used to describe a range of conditions that effect our mood, thinking and behaviour.Over the next few weeks I will aim to expand on these conditions, look at what makes some people more prone to mental ill health than others and review some practical interventions that we can all benefit from.Until then – In the words of the great Richard Carlson…”You are only one thought away from a good feeling…”
